What to do in Ubud, Bali: Stroll Around!

In the end of December, I agreed to travel to Bali with an older sister I love, Mbak Frida (her photos will be revealed afterward lol).

I told her that I need a tranquil place to soothe my mind (and broken soul). A hustle-bustle tourist spot was a NO-NO. Thus, she booked a room for us two at Bliss Spa & Bungalow; somewhere close to Monkey Forest, Ubud.

Ubud is Bali's artistic heartland. Art shops and galleries were so easy to find. Some temples were holding dance performance as well! Good news for those who loves art. (*please remember that woman who is in "period" is prohibited to visit a temple).

We both went to the hotel she had booked previously for placing our luggage before walking leisurly around Jalan Raya Ubud.

Jalan Raya Ubud is the main shopping street in Ubud. Fashion boutiques, art galleries and handicrafts, restaurants, bars, cafes, traditional market, temple, bookstores, etc are located side by side. (Tips number one: Wear a comfortable footwear, then you are set to shop or wander around! :D)

We both drove a scooter from Denpasar to Ubud, so we didn't need to rent a scooter or take a taxi to go to Jalan Raya Ubud (our place was not to far from Jalan Raya Ubud tho, but it would be quite tiring if we walked on foot. Therefore, we chose to drive our scooter to Jalan Raya Ubud and parked it somewhere, then we strolled around).

Scooter or taxi service were mostly in every which way just like this,

They almost provided everything!
But I had no information wheater some of them would available close to where you stay. Asking your hotel's workers would help?

Paintings were all over the way.

Shopped!

They were on their way for having a proper date at famous restaurant close to Blanco Museum called Bridge.

How pretty.

Sesajen. It has a very sacred value for adherents of Hinduism. They were basically everywhere; in front of a boutique, at the end of the street, even next to the checkout counter. Please be careful not to shed or step on it.

Anyone?

For you who are moslem, Halal Ubud Burger might be a good idea for you to try.

Here is the menu.

Lovebirds.

Another casual date. Most people brought their umbrella with them because Bali was so cloudy at that day.
What did I expect? It was December.

We visited a bookstore. They had clearance sale; 50% + special price. I bought a book and some postcards for a close friends of mine who are currently living in Flensburg and Paris.

We were too keen to look around; walking from one block to another, standing idly for taking pictures or amazed when seeing something uncommon, going into one shop to another for shopping or sight-seeing.

Mr. Sun suddenly dimmed out. The sky had been gloomy since morning but then it turned bristling out of no where. I wasn't aware about its sudden change bacause I thought it was just around half past five p.m, but I hitted by the fact that it actually was twenty to seven???! Don't judge me; I am a pure-blood Javanese girl where the sky darkens shortly after FIVE o'clock.

Our tummy grumbled (sowry my precious tummy). Where would be good for us to dine? We peeped at menu board or book which hanged or placed in front each restaurants. After a brief consideration, we chose a restaurant close to Ubud Traditional Art Market.

Because I am a totally Asian girl. It means I need something "heavy". O hello there! Nasi campur Bali.

O, girl, why looked so gloomy.

Mbak Frida's pick that day for supper: pork ribs!

Us.
Suddenly the sky could not hold back the water that they had all day. It was raining swiftly as our foods come. We decided to let the rain dropped heavily while enjoying our meal tastefully.

*another post about Bali is about to come!
